He tatau pounamu ki te ao Māori
An open door to te ao Māori
A foundation based upon the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bedded in te ao Māori is an increasingly integral part of how the University operates and grows.
This year the development of the University Language Plan for the Revitalisation of te reo Māori and the exciting release of the app Te Kūaha have set things moving in the right direction!
Te Kūaha – the Doorway
Te Kūaha is part of a wider programme of work to implement the revitalisation plan. It helps all members of the UoA community learn the correct pronunciation of Māori words, as well as introductions, greetings, speeches and acknowledgements, waiata and karakia. It also covers the marae protocol of relevance to the University.
